Western Wildfire Fund

We live in Central Oregon and though we are currently in a safe place as far as fire threat today, the landscape is parched, the air quality is hazardous, and our hearts are breaking for the loss of life, property, wildlife, and environment around us. Just to the west of us and in other scattered parts of the state over 1 million acres have scorched, over 40,000 residents (with their pets and livestock) have evacuated, and the usual October rains seem far away. We have such enormous gratitude for every fire fighter out there risking their lives and health in these horrific conditions.

In the year that just keeps giving, or taking, I’d like to return to the spirit of community and generosity that inspired Matthew Burrows to launch the #artistsupportpledge months ago at the onset of covid-19 lockdowns. The concept is simple and was designed to help artists help each other at a time when it was difficult, if not impossible, to show and sell work in any public venue: offer your work online for $200 or less (or the comparable denomination in your country + shipping) and when you have sold $1,000 worth of your work, turn around and buy another artist’s work for $200.

But I want to take this one step further: I’m offering the following 10 paintings for $200 (including shipping within the US) AND I will combine the #artistsupportpledge with a special focus on my #wheremyheARTis pledge that reaches out to those affected by these wildfires: I pledge to donate 40% of these sales to the American Red Cross Western Wildfires Fund, which is leading the evacuation relief here in Oregon. (Alternatively, if you have already donated to this fund, send me a screenshot of your receipt and I’ll discount your purchase for the same amount, up to $80.)

Together we can make a difference.

Addendum: my gifts to the Western Wildfire Fund will end October 31. See my #wheremyheARTis post for ongoing beneficiaries.
