Spring beginnings

From the April Tumalo Art Company newsletter:

We are thrilled that Anne Gibson is joining Tumalo Art Co. as a member artist—meaning she will be a gallerist and you can come in and meet her in person!

Her work has been described as "rugged and yet simultaneously sensitive". We know that you will enjoy it and hope that soon you will make one of her pieces part of your art collection.

I find self-promotion excruciatingly difficult, so I am grateful to use the words of Tumalo Art Company to announce this happy news. And many thanks for the generosity of spirit and welcoming enthusiasm of fellow members:

Adell Shetterly's front wall in the gallery this month is particularly cohesive. It flows beautifully into Anne Gibson's work, which is up for the first time. Then, just across the aisle, Susan Luckey Hidgon's show about "Water Over Rocks" continues the flow. This streaming of color and texture was not planned. It's what artists call a "happy accident". Wander into the gallery during your walk in the Old Mill District and see for yourself.

I’ll be at TAC this afternoon, April 2, from at least 4 to 5:30 — please stop in to see the serendipity and uniqueness of color, form, and mark between Adell’s, Susan’s, and my work, and say hi. Then be sure to explore the rest of the gallery, most of which was also rehung for April with fresh art and new juxtapositions.

As a member of the collaborative, I’ll be volunteering at the gallery five shifts a month, getting to know the other artists better and having the opportunity to interact with the community more, which is exciting after this long quiet year. If, like me, you prefer a quieter time to browse the art, I hope to see you there in the coming weeks and months.
